Summary

On February 26, 2025, Arkansas Governor Huckabee Sanders signed a bill to amend the Frank Broyles Publicity Rights Protection Act of 2016 to include protections individuals from commercial use of AI-generated replication of their voice and likeness without authorization of their consent. The bill also provides a method of legal recourse through methods such as injunctions seeking damages for further use. The bill is in response to growing concerns of privacy and possible commercial exploitation of one’s identity without consent in the wake of AI-generated deepfakes and synthetic media.
