EU Accepting Comments on definition of 'AI System' and AI Act Article 5

Summary

Through December 11, 2024, AI stakeholders may submit input to the AI Office regarding certain parts of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (the “AI Act”). Specifically, the consultation seeks commentary on the definition of an AI system under Article 3(1) and on the restrictions placed on some uses of AI systems under Article 5 of the AI Act. Following this consultation period, published guidelines are expected in early 2025, ahead of February 2, 2025, when the relevant provisions go into force.
