Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee Meeting Set for September 18, 2019
On Thursday, August 22, the Department of the Treasury will publish a notice in the Federal Register announcing that the Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee (TTAC) will meet on Wednesday, September 18, from 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) in Washington, D.C., at the Treasury Building (Cash Room-2121), 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The meeting is open to the public.
Registration: Interested attendees must register online or by telephone no later than 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Tuesday, September 10. Interested attendees should register soon because the meeting will be held in a secure building and individuals must be cleared in order to enter the building. Online registration is available here. Summary of Agenda and Topics to be Discussed: During this meeting, the members will adopt bylaws for the TTAC and discuss the progress of the priority issue matrix and work plan, statutory mandates (Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act Sections 2 and 3(b)), and the work of the three subcommittees (General Welfare Exclusion, Dual Taxation and Tribal Pensions/Parity). In addition, the TTAC will provide updates on priority issues, read any public and tribal comments submitted and take other actions necessary to fulfill the TTAC's mandate. The seven TTAC members include:
- Chair: Lacey Horn, former Treasurer, Cherokee Nation.
- Vice Chair: Eugene Magnuson, Treasurer, Pokagon Band of Potawatomi.
- W. Ron Allen, Chairman and CEO, Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.
- Lynn Malerba, Lifetime Chief, Mohegan Tribe.
- Rebecca Benally, Commissioner, San Juan County in Utah.
- Sharon Edenfield, Tribal Council Member, Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
- Patricia King, Treasurer, Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.
Public Comment: Members of the public wishing to comment on the business of the TTAC are invited to submit written statements by any of the following methods: (1) send electronic comments to Tribal.Consult@treasury.gov or (2) send paper statements in triplicate to the Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee, Department of the Treasury, 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Room 1426G, Washington, D.C. 20220.
The Department of the Treasury will post all statements on its website without change and make such statements available for public inspection. All statements received, including attachments and other supporting materials, are part of the public record and subject to public disclosure.
