Akin Appellate Win Earns AmLaw Litigator of the Week Shout Out
Three Akin lawyers have earned a Litigator of the Week “shout-out” from The American Lawyer’s Litigation Daily.
Akin is recognized for securing a significant appellate win on behalf of Southern Methodist University (SMU) at the Texas Supreme Court. The state’s high court ruled in favor of SMU, recognizing that the application of Texas’ Pandemic Liability Protection Act (PLPA) to student Luke Hogan’s breach-of-contract claim does not violate the retroactivity clause in Article 1, Section 16 of the Texas Constitution.
