Akin Court Win for HBK Master Fund Earns ‘Litigator of the Week’ Shout-Out, Media Coverage
Litigation Daily, in its Litigator of the Week honors, gave a shout-out to a group of firms that won for residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) investors in a case before the Manhattan Supreme Court this week. Among the firms was Akin, representing HBK Master Fund with a team that included funds litigation partner Uri Itkin and counsel Richard D’Amato and litigation associates Michael Chen and Andrew McWhorter.
New York Law Journal, in its article “NY Judge: Buyers Must Pay Deferred Principal in RMBS Transactions,” spotlighted the matter and noted that the decision represented a win for investors, as Justice Andrew Borrok ruled that deferred balances need to be included in the call price during consensual termination of RMBS.
