Akin Financial Restructuring Practice Recognized in Two Categories at the IFLR Europe Awards 2025

Akin’s London financial restructuring team has been recognized in two categories at the IFLR Europe Awards 2025. The IFLR Awards celebrates legal innovation in cross-border dealmaking, honoring the deals, teams and firms that push boundaries in legal practice.  

The team is credited for its work on the Adler Group restructuring for the Impact Deal of the Year award. The firm won this award based on its victory in challenging Adler's restructuring plan, in which Akin represented the successful appellants in unanimously overturning the High Court's decision to sanction the plan. Adler is the first restructuring plan to be considered by the Court of Appeal, the first fully developed substantive appeal on a restructuring case in approximately 15 years and the first-ever UK court-approved restructuring to be overturned. The financial restructuring team is also acknowledged in the Restructuring Deal of the Year award for their work on the McDermott restructuring matter.

The IFLR Awards 2025 were presented on April 3 at an awards ceremony in London.
