Akin Gump Deal Wins “Restructuring Deal of the Year” at IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards

(Hong Kong) – Akin Gump is pleased to share that the restructuring of Virgin Australia, in which the firm represented the voluntary administrators and deed administrators of Australia’s second-largest airline, has been named Deal of the Year in the Restructuring category at the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2021.

The complex restructuring involved the compromise of more than AUD$6 billion of debt and resulted in the sale of the Virgin Australia group to U.S. private equity group Bain Capital. The sale was completed on November 17, 2020.

The firm is also currently shortlisted in three categories for the IFLR Awards Europe 2021 (learn more here).
