Akin Gump Finalist for DEI and Pro Bono Efforts in Legalweek’s Leaders in Tech Law Awards

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to share that Legalweek has shortlisted the firm for its Leaders in Tech Law Awards in two categories: Innovations in Diversity and Inclusion and Innovations in Pro Bono.

Now in its second year, the Leaders in Tech Law Awards recognize “innovation in the legal technology sector and [those] working on precedent-setting, game-changing projects and initiatives” in the United States. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on February 2, 2022.

For the diversity award, the firm is recognized for its career development series Shaping Your Future. The series, developed by the firm’s Firmwide Resource Groups (FRGs), offers virtual programming available to students across all law schools in which Akin Gump lawyers from the firm’s FRGs provided authentic advice and guidance relevant to law students. In the pro bono category, the firm is recognized for its remote Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) clinic, which launched last year, through a new partnership with the Mississippi Center for Justice that serves immigrant youth in Mississippi. (Learn more here.)
