Akin Gump Named to Global Competition Review’s GCR 100
(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce it has been selected for inclusion in the 19th annual edition of the GCR 100, Global Competition Review’s guide to the world’s leading competition law and economics practices.
With seven partners and nine other lawyers in its Washington, D.C., office, GCR observes that the Akin Gump team “has expanded significantly in recent years.” Among its significant representations, the firm advised global maritime company Wilhelmsen in its acquisition of Drew Marine, a competitor in the supply of marine chemicals. Additionally, GCR highlights Akin Gump’s role “as lead antitrust counsel to AT&T for its pre-close integration planning efforts in connection with its mergers and acquisitions for all of its recent significant transactions.” This included the company’s acquisition in 2018 of Time Warner (click here) and of DIRECTV in 2015 (click here). Also highlighted by GCR, was Akin Gump’s representation of U.S. Concrete in a class action brought by purchasers of ready-mix concrete. The Akin Gump team successfully got U.S. Concrete dismissed from the case along with getting the complaint limited to a two-year period for the remaining defendants.
