Akin Gump Once Again Named Among Most Innovative Firms by Financial Times
(New York) – In its North America Innovative Lawyers 2014 competition, Financial Times ranked Akin Gump among the most innovative law firms in the industry and also ranked two deals led by its partners as “highly recommended” in the Finance category.
In the first, FT recognized the creation of “a hybrid structure for food company Mars’s agreement to develop the Mesquite Creek Wind Farm and reduce the company’s carbon footprint.” In its description of the engagement, FT noted the work of cross-border transactions partner Tom Trimble in advising Mars on the financing structure. In the second, the publication recognized Akin Gump’s work in advising “Indian state-owned energy company GAIL in a 20-year services agreement to use the Cove Point liquefied natural gas terminal” and singled out deal leader and energy partner Steve Davis for commendation.
Attorneys from Akin Gump have now been recognized each year that Financial Times has ranked and recognized U.S. law firms. This is the first year that FT has expanded the competition’s scope to include Canada and Mexico. In June, FT also ranked Akin Gump among the most innovative law firms in the Asia-Pacific region (read more here).
