Akin Gump Receives KIPP LA Schools Choice & Commitment Award

(Los Angeles) – Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is the recipient of this year’s Choice & Commitment Award from KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) LA Schools, a nonprofit organization that operates high-performing elementary and middle public charter schools in South and East Los Angeles.

Akin Gump will be honored for its long-standing commitment to KIPP LA’s schools and educational mission as well as for its vital support of the organization’s success and expansion. The firm has advised KIPP LA on a variety of issues and has also worked on wide-ranging deals for KIPP schools across the country.

The KIPP network includes 125 schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia. C.N. Franklin Reddick III, co-head of Akin Gump’s corporate practice, serves as board chair of KIPP LA, and Jose Villarreal, a consultant in Akin Gump’s San Antonio office and a former partner at the firm, serves on the KIPP Foundation board. Schulman, who manages the nationwide relationship with KIPP, will receive the award on behalf of the firm.
