Akin Gump Sanctions Platform Named a ‘Standout’ in 2022 FT North America Innovative Lawyers Report
(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to share that its Overruled interactive platform—which enables users to search for and analyze U.S. sanctions and export control enforcement, interrogate guidance offered by regulators, and calculate estimated penalties for suspected violations—was awarded “Standout” status in the “Digitising legal services” category of Financial Times’ 2022 North America Innovative Lawyers report.
As noted in the report, Overruled, launched internally last year and set for full launch in 2023, has been used by more than 200 clients to assess the impact of sanctions against Russia.
Separately, in the “FT law firm index,” which evaluates all recognized law firms in the categories Innovation, People, Digital, Social Responsibility and Growth (financial), Akin Gump repeated its top 20 placement from 2021 (learn more here).
Firm chairperson Kim Koopersmith was quoted in the accompanying article “Digital reinvention is the next big test for law firm success” on the topic of Akin Gump’s strategy in the face of the economic landscape’s highs and lows. She noted, “We have countercyclical practices and run our firm with a long-term view” and added that the firm, over the last year, has recruited lawyers in areas with “high growth potential, such as energy transition and private credit.”
