Akin has been named Pro Bono International Firm of the Year at the Women in Business Law Awards EMEA 2024.
Akin was recognized for its work with the organizations Not Beyond Redemption, Domestic Abuse Response Alliance, Kids in Need of Defense UK and Women of Impact.
- Not Beyond Redemption provides free family legal advice and representation to women who are or have been in prison, focusing on helping to re-establish critical contact with their children.
- The Domestic Abuse Response Alliance (DARA) is comprised of a group of leading law firms representing London-based individuals who are not eligible for legal aid but who cannot afford to pay for private representation. DARA provides individuals with help, support and representation from the outset to the conclusion of their court proceedings seeking protective injunctions against abusers.
- Kids In Need of Defense UK provides free legal help to undocumented children, young people and families in the UK.
- Women of Impact supports and helps women-led social enterprises scale and become more sustainable to help address gender-specific
