Akin Quartet Again Selected for Variety’s Dealmakers Impact Report
Akin media & entertainment practice head Chris Spicer and partners Marissa Román Griffith, Alissa Miller and Vanessa Roman have once again been recognized in Variety’s Dealmakers Impact Report for 2024.
According to Variety, the Dealmakers Impact Report spotlights entertainment’s top lawyers, financiers, entrepreneurs and executives behind key entrainment industry deals in the past year that have had an undeniable impact on the industry.
In its published profile of the group, Variety notes the Akin team closed more than $3.5 billion in deals this past year across media, entertainment and sports. Variety highlights the team’s recent engagements, including representing CAT5 (an action film label backed by Fifth Season) in its initial project, “Levon’s Trade” (Black Bear Pictures) written by Sylvester Stallone and advising HarbourView Equity Partners on its investment in Mucho Mas Media (producers of the films “Rosario” and “The Long Game”).
The profile also quotes the four-partner group about being open-minded on AI’s potential impact on the media and entertainment industry: “Our advice for anyone in the industry, be it legal, financial, creative, etc., is to learn how to use the technology to be more efficient and better at your job as opposed to be scared of it. Embrace the change and look for ways to use it to your advantage.”
