Akin Trio Named Entertainment Visionaries
Los Angeles Times has once again recognized Akin media & entertainment partners Marissa Román Griffith, Alissa Miller and Vanessa Roman in its Entertainment Visionaries feature, a list of “professionals whose expertise fuels the engines that drive the industry forward.” This recognition follows the trio’s selection to L.A. Times’s “Visionaries in Banking and Finance” earlier this year.
In L.A. Times’s profile of Marissa, she is characterized as a “prominent figure at Akin’s Los Angeles office,” recognized for her most recent deals and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. She serves as co-chair of Akin’s Latinx Firmwide Resource Group and is an active mentor to the firm’s summer associates. Additionally, Marissa actively promotes women in entertainment through the Women Executives in Entertainment Network. She has been recognized in Variety’s Dealmakers Impact and Legal Impact Reports, The Hollywood Reporter’s Top 100 Power Lawyers, Chambers USA and The Legal 500 US.
Alissa, the partner in charge of the firm’s L.A. office, is recognized as “a distinguished finance lawyer specializing in entertainment,” who “advocates for the entertainment sector amidst significant disruptions,” according to the publication. She is credited for assisting “independent production companies affected by pandemic-related shutdowns, leading to the establishment of the American Coalition for Independent Content Production.” Most recently, she was recognized by L.A. Times as a Woman of Influence, Chambers USA and The Legal 500 US.
L.A. Times described Vanessa as a “key figure on Akin’s esteemed entertainment team,” known “across the industry for her dealmaking prowess.” She is credited for her pro bono work, which includes assisting the American Film Institute and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Vanessa has been recognized in Variety’s Legal Impact and Dealmakers Impact Reports, in addition to The Legal 500 US.
