Akin Wins Restructuring Team of the Year at Law.com International’s British Legal Awards

Akin’s financial restructuring practice has won the Restructuring Team of the Year at Law.com International’s British Legal Awards 2024.

According to Law.com International, the British Legal Awards are the premier legal awards in the region and represent the best of the best in the legal community within the U.K. Now in their 15th year, the awards recognize “the outstanding contributions of legal professionals, firms, and teams shaping the landscape of law.”

Demonstrating Akin’s market-leading position, the firm won this award based on its monumental victory in challenging Adler's restructuring plan, in which Akin represented the successful appellants in unanimously overturning the High Court's decision to sanction the plan. Adler is the first restructuring plan to be considered by the Court of Appeal, the first fully developed substantive appeal on a restructuring case in approximately 15 years and the first-ever UK court-approved restructuring to be overturned. The British Legal Awards 2024 were presented on November 27 in London.

Last week, Akin’s financial restructuring practice also won the Creditor-Side Law Firm of the Year at Global Restructuring Review’s Awards 2024, and the firm was ranked in the top three of the GRR 30 2024. Read more here.
