Akin Wins ‘Sukuk Legal Adviser of the Year’ and ‘Capital Markets Deal of the Year’ at Global Banking & Markets Awards 2024

Akin has been successful across two categories in the Global Banking & Markets: CEE, CIS & Türkiye Awards 2024.

The Akin team, led by capital markets partner Rizwan Kanji with counsel Nicola Minervini and associate Sahar Abas, was named Sukuk Legal Adviser of the Year. The award recognized Akin’s significant contributions to the Turkey sukuk market, and its experience in Islamic finance and capital markets. Since 2009, Akin has successfully advised on every single international sukuk issuance out of Turkey, except one.

Akin also picked up an award in the Capital Markets Deal of the Year category, with the team recognized for advising Ziraat Katılım Bankası A.Ş. as obligor in connection with the landmark international sukuk issuance of $500,000,000 lease certificates.

The Global Banking & Markets: CEE, CIS & Türkiye Awards recognize the most innovative & ground-breaking deals from the region’s financial markets.
