Amanda Butler-Jones Named a Future Private Equity Leader
Akin investment management partner Amanda Butler-Jones has been named to Private Equity International’s (PEI) 40 Under 40: Future Leaders of Private Equity list for 2024.
In its profile of Amanda, PEI noted Amanda’s roles in advising longstanding client BlackRock in certain strategic investments and supporting the growth of Akin’s secondaries offering. Amanda commented that she quickly became involved in the secondaries practice area when she joined Akin, when the secondaries sector was in the “early stages of its current trajectory of unprecedented growth,” and was “really keen to get involved and learn about a growing practice area.”
Amanda added that, growth can present change and challenges, emphasizing the importance of anticipating potential outcomes in order to navigate challenges effectively. Amanda said, “It’s necessary to stay abreast of what’s happening in the world, from the broader geopolitical environment to the headline transactions happening. These are important to stay in tune with, because they signal things about the industry, about our clients, about us, and how all of that comes together.”
Amanda concluded by underscoring the importance of having a holistic understanding of the bigger picture as being crucial for achieving success in the realm of private equity. She said, “Allowing yourself to take a step back and think about things from a commercial perspective, not just a legal perspective is [an] important skill.”
Last month, a deal in which Amanda advised on was named Buyouts’ Secondaries Deal of the Year (learn more here). Last year, Amanda was named a winner in Black Women in Asset Management’s 40 Under 40 awards (learn more here) and a Rising Star by The National Law Journal (learn more here).
