Daily Journal Names Neal Marder Among ‘Leading Commercial Litigators’
Akin disputes & investigations partner Neal Marder has been selected among Daily Journal’s ‘Leading Commercial Litigators’ for 2024.
According to the publication, this annual supplement looks to honor “the best attorneys working within the broad scope of commercial and bet-the-company litigation across the country.”
In its profile of Neal, the publication notes his representation of Investment Management Group in a complex, bet-the-company partnership dispute. This case was notable for its challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a shift from traditional court proceedings to a month-long arbitration process. Neal’s success, according to the publication, demonstrated adaptability and skill in managing complex legal disputes outside the conventional courtroom. In addition to Neal and his team’s success in the arbitration, they successfully defended the arbitration award in subsequent court challenges and on appeal, which further solidified the victory.
Daily Journal adds that Neal’s work on this case emphasizes a growing trend in litigation – the increasing integration and impact of artificial intelligence (AI).
Neal said, “Currently, we are in a major dispute with our adversary in a significant class action matter over the use AI in connection with the review of client documents response to request for production. The courts are going to be very challenged with balancing attempts to save time and money through the utilization of AI instead of expensive hourly lawyers to respond to discovery.”
Last year, Neal was selected among Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Attorneys” for the second year in a row (learn more here).
