Global Competition Review Again Names Akin Gump to GCR 100
(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump has once again been selected for inclusion in Global Competition Review’s GCR 100, the publication’s annual guide to the world’s top competition practices. It is the second straight year the firm has been named to the list, which is now in its 20th edition.
GCR highlights the addition during the past year of partner Haidee Schwartz, a former Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The publication also notes some of Akin Gump’s recent work, including serving as lead antitrust counsel to coal company Peabody on its proposed joint venture with Arch Coal. It’s a move, GCR says, that would combine “the Powder River Basin and Colorado assets of the top-two U.S. coal producers.” In addition, the firm is noted for securing a dismissal of claims against animal lab testing provider Antech, which alleged it had abused its market power in violation of both federal and California antitrust laws by inducing veterinarians into signing long-term contracts.
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers and advisors in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
