IAM Patent 1000 Recognizes 10 Akin Lawyers in 2024 Guide

IAM has recognized 10 Akin intellectual property partners in its 2024 edition of the IAM Patent 1000, a guide of leading private practice patent lawyers in the United States.

In Pennsylvania, where the firm was ranked as a “Gold Firm” for its litigation work, IAM noted that the Akin IP team “boasts a stellar track record securing wins for clients across all sectors” and can “navigate complex disputes in federal courts as well as in other forums, including the International Trade Commission (ITC) and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), delivering results through careful strategic decisions, strong advocacy and seamless collaboration.” The following partners were highlighted:

  • IP practice head Steven Maslowski was recognized as a “leading figure in life sciences” who “brings comprehensive litigation expertise to the forefront.”
  • Matthew Pearson was praised for bringing “practical solutions to knotty legal dilemmas” across “an array of cutting-edge fields.”
  • Rubén Muñoz, partner in charge of Akin’s Philadelphia office, “brings flair to litigating IP disputes, particularly excelling in patent infringements. Putting in resonant performances in the courtroom, he is well established as a skilled and detail-oriented professional.”

Akin was also ranked for litigation in Washington, D.C., with IAM noting that the firm continues to “uphold its stellar reputation for top-class patent litigation services in the United States.” The following partners were highlighted:

  • Cono Carrano and David Vondle were noted in particular for their “prowess in matters” before the ITC. IAM added, “The pair recently secured a significant victory for Canadian vape manufacturers Greentank Technologies Corporation, which ensured the continued sale of its products in the United States.”
  • Brandon Rash was recognized for being “well versed in computer, electrical and communications technology cases,” while Rachel Elsby was noted for her experience in life sciences and biotechnology work.

Additionally, the firm was ranked in Texas for litigation and solidifying its “reputation through a history of triumphs in high-stakes cases.” Partner Daniel Moffett was recognized for leading “the charge in high-stakes matters,” and for being a “formidable force in the courtroom.”

Further, partners Michael Kahn and Paul Tripodi were recognized for their patent work in New York and California, respectively.
