Jenny Patten Magallanes Named a Native American Leader by Diversity Journal
Akin American Indian policy & regulation counsel Jenny Patten Magallanes has been selected by Profiles in Diversity Journal among its 2023 Native American/Indigenous Leadership Award winners.
Now in its third iteration, Diversity Journal’s Native American/Indigenous Leadership Awards honor those who “have distinguished themselves with their talent, skill, and dedication to mentoring the next generation and of course, supporting Native Americans and the larger community.”
According to the publication, Jenny has been involved in several “significant legal issues in Indian country ranging from federal, state and tribal tax laws to tribal land matters,” highlighting her efforts to secure critical COVID-19 relief funds, totaling more than $28 billion, on behalf of several tribal nations as well as her work with the U.S. government to ensure the “return of aboriginal land to the jurisdiction of tribal nations.”
Profiles of the individual winners will be published in the upcoming summer issue of Profiles in Diversity Journal.
Earlier this year, Jenny was once again named to Law360’s Native American Editorial Advisory Board (read more here).
