Kim Koopersmith Honored at our Women’s Leadership Conference in Washington D.C.
At our Women’s Leadership Conference in Washington D.C., we brought together more than 150 Akin women from our global offices. The event featured fireside chats, panel discussions and outside speakers focusing on a variety of topics designed to foster collaboration, strengthen ties across practices and offices and promote women at all levels of the firm.
One of the highlights was the dinner celebrating Kim. So many women reflected on her unique blend of strength and warmth, her authenticity, her commitment to justice and civil rights, and her dedication to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. In a video that featured dozens of Akin women reflecting on Kim’s role in the profession and in their lives, Kim was recognized for openly modeling the challenges and joys of being a working mom, for bringing levity to unexpected situations, and for forging personal connections with so many people around our firm. It was a unique and fitting setting to honor Kim’s impact on Akin and its people.
Melissa Schwartz then offered her own appreciation of Kim. She spoke for many of us when she said:
Kim, “the house that Strauss built” has grown to be so much stronger, more resilient, more profitable, more vibrant, so much grander, and so very much more welcoming under your leadership. And we, the beneficiaries of this transformation of the house that Strauss built, are so deeply grateful to you for that.
There will be other opportunities to thank Kim during the remaining six months of her term, but this was a great start.
