Lauren Talerman Profiled by GIR Following 40 Under 40 Recognition
White collar investigations & trade compliance partner Lauren Talerman has been selected to Global Investigations Review’s annual 40 Under 40 list. Now in its fourth year, the list recognizes the 40 leading young investigations practitioners from around the world.
In the profile of Lauren, she described her most significant case as a lawyer: securing a “rare exemption from the US government,” which permitted her client to continue its business operations due to sanctions restrictions. She was able to secure this result through “leveraging novel legal arguments, investigative skills, intensive advocacy and strong government relationships,” which assisted her client in engaging with different regulatory authorities.
Lauren discussed the pivotal role Mac Fadlallah, partner in charge of Akin’s Dubai office, has played in her career, saying, “As my career progressed and I was looking for a new challenge, I had the amazingly good fortune of meeting Mac Fadlallah at Akin, who inspired me to leave Washington, D.C., after 12 years to help expand the white-collar investigations and trade compliance practice in Dubai – a path that he had trailblazed.”
Lauren also discussed how sanctions and export control regulations have expanded in recent years, noting, “it will be particularly interesting to see how this enforcement trend unfolds in the Middle East, given its unique geographic position and political environment.”
