Legal Times Recognizes Akin Gump Chairman Bruce McLean with "Visionary" Award
(Washington, D.C.) R. Bruce McLean, chairman of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, has been recognized as a National Law Journal/Legal Times Visionary—attorneys whose business or legal acumen has expanded their firms, improved government or advanced the law—in the fifth annual Legal Times Champions & Visionaries awards.
In describing Mr. McLean’s accomplishments, The National Law Journal focused on the remarkable growth of the firm under his leadership. When Mr. McLean became chairman in 1993, the firm was a regional player with four offices in Texas and only two outside the state. Nineteen years later, the firm has 17 offices worldwide and global leadership in a number of practices, not to mention dual strengths in law and lobbying.
Mr. McLean’s personal commitments to expand and ingrain pro bono and diversity at Akin Gump were also noted, including the fact that, in 2006, Akin Gump became one of the few large law firms to add a dedicated pro bono partner.
Mr. McLean, along with the other Legal Times Champions & Visionaries honorees, will be officially recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on September 20.
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 850 attorneys in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
