Natasha Kohne Named to Daily Journal’s Top Cyber/Artificial Intelligence Lawyers 2018 List
(San Francisco) – Natasha Kohne, co-leader of Akin Gump’s cybersecurity, privacy and data protection practice, has been named to Daily Journal’s Top Cyber/Artificial Intelligence Lawyers 2018 list.
Ms. Kohne was described by the publication as someone who has “thrived at the intersection of two traditionally male-dominated fields: law and technology,” though she said that should not be a deterrent to other women who might want to get into this area of the law.
“I think it is important to push back against the stereotype of this industry as being difficult to break into,” said Ms. Kohne. “Cybersecurity is an emerging field, and I believe there can actually be more openings and opportunities for women in emerging fields.”
Likening her role to that of a “quarterback,” the publication noted that in addition to litigating, Ms. Kohne might also find herself working with data forensics teams to find the identity of cyber intruders, or with crisis communications teams in talking to the media. The publication also noted her role in launching Akin Gump’s cybersecurity practice in Abu Dhabi nearly a decade ago while establishing the firm’s office there, which she still co-manages. That was among the accomplishments for which Daily Journal named her one of its Top Women Lawyers for 2017. (Click here to read more.)
