Neal Marder Again Selected Among L.A.’s Leaders of Influence
For the second year in a row, Akin disputes & investigations partner Neal Marder has been named among Los Angeles Business Journal’s Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Attorneys for 2023.
In this special section, LABJ recognizes the litigators “who go to the proverbial mat to fight for their clients before judges and jury and have their own unique sets of skills…these are the trusted advisors you want in your corner in court.”
In its profile of Neal, who leads Akin’s litigation efforts in California and its class actions efforts nationwide, LABJ describes him as having achieved “significant victories in state and federal courts in California and nationwide, including precedent-setting wins in high-profile, enterprise-threatening litigation.”
For example, the profile notes Neal’s successful outcome for American Medical Response, with $100+ million in potential exposure, opposing “a class certification involving alleged California state law violations prohibiting the intentional recording of all cellular and cordless telephones communications.” The California Southern District Court agreed with almost all of Neal’s arguments “and denied class certification, leaving plaintiff little room for appeal.” Ultimately, the court dismissed all claims.
Neal was also recognized by LABJ as a 2022 Top 100 Lawyer (learn more here), and in Los Angeles Times’ Business of Law 2022 feature among its Legal Visionaries (learn more here).
