Steven Ross Named Among NLJ’s 2018 White Collar Trailblazers
(Washington, D.C.) – Steven Ross, a partner at Akin Gump and co-leader of the firm’s congressional investigations practice, has been selected as one of The National Law Journal’s 2018 White Collar Trailblazers. Those chosen by the publication “continue to make their mark in white collar criminal litigation,” demonstrating “a deep passion and perseverance in pursuit of their mission.”
NLJ, in its profile of Mr. Ross, noted that he combines “litigation skills with an understanding of the congressional committee process.” Among his client matters, he represented the Agua Caliente band of Native Americans in the Jack Abramoff scandal, demonstrating that the tribe “had been a victim rather than a perpetrator.” He also advised the former CEO of AIG through all the congressional investigations and matters “without any real injury” to the client.
Speaking of congressional investigation trends, Mr. Ross described them as coming “in both waves and tides.” The former, he said, “is the partisan and party control matrix,” while the latter “is the longer-term effect of more systemic changes.” He added that there has also been a rise in investigations at the state and local level.
