The Legal Intelligencer Names Jason Weil a Lawyer on the Fast Track
(Philadelphia) – Jason Weil, counsel in the intellectual property practice at Akin Gump, has been named by The Legal Intelligencer as one of its 2019 Lawyers on the Fast Track. The list, part of the publication’s Professional Excellence Awards, highlights “the great work and achievements across the full breadth of the Pennsylvania legal community.”
Dr. Weil’s work encompasses a range of technologies, including monoclonal antibody therapies, biosimilars, DNA diagnostics and medical devices. With a practice focused on patent litigation, he has represented some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies in litigation involving some of their blockbuster biological molecules.
The Intelligencer notes that Dr. Weil plays a leadership role at Akin Gump, serving as the Philadelphia office representative on its associates and counsel committee, which “meets with firm management twice a year to discuss the status of the firm and potential initiatives the firm should consider based on associate/counsel input.” He also worked with the firm’s chief diversity and inclusion officer to start the Philadelphia office inclusion council.
Dr. Weil maintains an active pro bono practice, having played “a crucial role” in the firm’s representation of the families of eight Bolivian citizens, who were murdered by the Bolivian military. In addition, he has worked on other pro bono matters with organizations, such as the Harvard International Human Rights Clinic, the Center for Constitutional Rights, the Support Center for Child Advocates and the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center.
Dr. Weil and all of the other award winners will be recognized at a dinner in Philadelphia on June 27.
