Three Akin Partners Featured in L.A. Times as ‘Visionaries’ in Banking and Finance

Akin media, entertainment & sports practice head Chris Spicer and partners Alissa Miller and Vanessa Roman are featured in the Los Angeles Times as Banking and Finance “Visionaries.” The honorees are each recognized for bringing “a living face and emotional depth to the often-complex, sometimes oblique world of the financial sector.”
The L.A. Times highlights some of Chris’ recent high-profile work including advising a financial institution on a $1.1-billion secured library credit facility and a global investment firm on a $100-million Series A equity investment, along with his roster of notable clients including Aperture Media Partners, XYZ Films, Fifth Season, FilmNation and more. Chris is also honored for his leadership at the firm, including serving as a member of Akin’s management committee and for his mentorship through Akin’s advisor program.
Alissa, a three-time L.A. Times Banking and Finance “Visionary,” earned this year’s recognition for a slew of significant deals including securing financing for projects with Netflix, ABC and A24. Vanessa, a two-time L.A. Times Banking and Finance “Visionary,” is spotlighted as an industry leader for her notable work representing leading banks including Bank of America, Comerica Bank, MUFG Bank, and East West Bank on high-profile film financing and production loans. Recent deals noted include Miramax’s financing of Roofman and 4 Kids, CAT5’s Levon’s Trade and MUFG’s $110 million in production loans. The L.A. Times also acknowledges Vanessa’s impact outside her client work, noting her pro bono contributions and her role as board member of Female Executives in Media and Entertainment.
