Summary

This EO states, “It is in the national interest to promote the extraordinary heritage of our Nation and ensure future generations of American citizens celebrate the legacy of our American heroes.” Within seven days of the date of this order, each agency head with authority to appoint members to the Board on Geographic Names (Board) shall review their respective appointees and consider replacing those appointees in accordance with applicable law.

Within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Interior shall reinstate the name Mount McKinley. As such, within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Interior shall take all appropriate actions to rename as the “Gulf of America” the U.S. continental shelf area bounded on the northeast, north and northwest by the States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba in the area formerly named as the Gulf of Mexico.

Requires the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to ensure that competition laws are appropriately enforced in the concert and entertainment industry when venues, ticketing agencies, or a combination are acting to the detriment of artists and fans. The FTC must rigorously enforce the Better Online Ticket Sales Act, 15 U.S.C. 45c and collaborate with State consumer protection officers. Within 180 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Treasury, Attorney General, and Chairman of the FTC shall jointly submit a report to the Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget describing the actions they have taken and recommendations.

Ensure appropriations to the Smithsonian Institution prohibit expenditures on exhibits or programs that degrade shared American values, divide Americans based on race, or promote programs or ideologies inconsistent with Federal law and policy. Directs the Secretary of the Interior to provide sufficient funding, as available, to improve the infrastructure of Independence National Historical Park, which shall be complete by July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Interior Secretary shall also determine whether, since January 1, 2020, public monuments, memorials, statues, markers, or similar properties within the Department of the Interior’s jurisdiction have been removed or changed to perpetuate a false reconstruction of American history, inappropriately minimize the value of certain historical events or figures, or include any other improper partisan ideology.
