Akin Achieves Record Financial Results for 2023

The American Lawyer reported on Akin’s record financial results in 2023, with revenue increasing by more than 11 percent and profits per partner rising by more than 22 percent.
Demand was strong across practices with financial restructuring, private credit, traditional energy, energy transition, international trade and litigation particularly busy.
Commenting on the results, Akin chairperson Kim Koopersmith said, “It is Akin firing on all cylinders. Your strategy works when it addresses what your clients need. We were perfectly aligned.”
The article highlighted a number of significant matters from 2023, including:
- Representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Chapter 11s filed by SVB Financial and Diamond Sports, and counsel to an ad hoc group of secured lenders in the Cineworld Chapter 11.
- Represented an ad hoc group of creditors on the $6 billion restructuring and the successful appeal of Adler's sanctioned U.K. restructuring plan.
- Advising Apollo Global Management in the formation and $20 billion close of Investment Fund X.
- Advising Excelsior Energy Capital in its acquisition of and $1.3 billion project financing for a solar project in Utah.
