Three members of Akin Gump’s public law and policy practice have been honored with a Burton Award for law firm writing.  The Burton Awards, now in their 14th year, were established to honor the greatest achievements in law.

Partners Steven Ross and Raphael Prober and associate Tom Moyer received the award for the article “Preserving Privacy Inside the Beltway: Responding to Congressional Demands for Sensitive Financial and Medical Information” which was published by Bloomberg BNA’s Privacy and Security Law Report.  The article can be read in its entirety here

The article discusses the increased use by Congress of its investigatory powers and offers “legal and practical advice for clients facing congressional requests for private financial or health-related information.”

The Burton Awards event will be held at the Library of Congress on June 3, 2013.  In addition to the law firm honorees, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will be presented with the “Contemporary Book of the Year in Law Award.”
