The American Lawyer Litigation Daily’s “Litigation Leaders” column profiled the head of Akin’s litigation practice in the Q&A article, “Akin’s Joseph Sorkin on Expectations for ‘Commitment, Collaboration Collegiality and Transparency.’”
Joseph, whose practice focuses on restructuring litigation, discussed a range of topics, including the practice’s biggest in-court wins over the past year and the firm’s coming trial docket. Regarding three areas of Akin’s litigation practice with the deepest bench, Sorkin highlighted funds litigation, white collar defense & congressional investigations and restructuring litigation.
Asked to describe the hallmarks of Akin litigators, “An Akin litigator is collaborative, focused on achieving results for clients in creative ways, and not shy about litigating as aggressively as necessary,” said Joseph. “We work to understand our clients—their business goals and objectives—and use litigation as a tool to further their goals and objectives. We do not litigate merely for litigation’s sake.”
