Akin Gump international trade partner Bernd Janzen has been quoted in the Bloomberg Law article “Trade Commission Waives Some Filing Rules in Response to Virus,” regarding the International Trade Commission (ITC) waiving rules requiring the filing of paper copies, CD-ROMS and other physical media in dumping and subsidy probes. In addition, the article says, the ITC is amending rules that mandate paper filing of briefs and other documents.

Janzen said the move to electronic filing is a helpful first step but does not deal with the larger questions looming on the horizon. It will be extremely difficult for attorneys to meet statutory deadlines in trade cases under the current circumstances, he noted.
