Akin Gump partner Davina Garrod has been quoted by Bloomberg for its article “Fear of Chinese and U.S. Buyers Force Europe Onto Defensive,” on concerns by European Union officials that their assets are vulnerable to investment and purchase by buyers from outside the EU.

Garrod, whose practice includes antitrust, competition and merger counsel, noted that, despite new measures thrown up by the EU, foreign investors will likely remain strongly interested in European assets due to the equity market slump, which will likely last well into 2021. She said, “The tide is turning in Europe with heightened vigilance, particularly regarding the Chinese and Russians. But it’s not turning Europe into a fortress.”
