Akin telecom, media & technology head Jennifer Richter speaks to Bloomberg about the future of the telecommunications industry during President-elect Donald Trump’s second administration. The article, titled “Media Executives See More Deals, Less Regulation Under Trump” examines how the new administration might change the media and telecom industry, specifically the broadband industry.

Jennifer tells Bloomberg that funding for broadband will continue to be top-of-mind in the wake of the Affordable Connectivity Program, a COVID-19 initiative that Congress failed to renew despite receiving bipartisan support. Additionally, Jennifer suspects that improving the way the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) slate of Universal Service Fund subsidy programs work will be high on the agenda.

Brendan Carr, senior FCC Republican, “has already been thinking about that top-to-bottom review of the regulations, to remove regulations that are outdated or overly burdensome,” said Jennifer.
