Brian Daly Authors Bloomberg Law Article on AI “Data Poisoning” Risks for Asset Managers

Bloomberg Law has published an article titled, “'Data Poisoning' Poses New AI Threats for Asset Managers,” authored by Akin investment management partner Brian Daly. The article examines the impact and risks of “data poisoning,” a cyberattack in which corrupt information is introduced into areas of generative AI training causing faulty conclusions.  

As asset managers have implemented generative artificial intelligence tools to streamline their investment decision-making process, risks such as data poisoning must be considered.  

Brian says although “asset managers’ compliance policies don’t address this risk” and there is “no fixed list of policies that managers can rely on to respond to this growing threat,” investment advisers should consider adopting several measures such as data validation, output reviews, security and AI agents.
