Construction Dive Quotes Susan Lent on Infrastructure Act Construction Programs

For its article “What contractors need to know about IIJA’s construction tech carve-outs,” Construction Dive quoted Akin Gump infrastructure and transportation practice head Susan Lent.
The article discusses the Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems (ADCMS) initiative and the Technology and Innovation Deployment Program (TIDP), whose $550 million is intended to promote use of construction technology on government-funded jobs.
Lent said that the two programs will cater to different contractors and builders according to the projects and type of work they do and noted that ADCMS is a focus area of the larger TIDP that aims to advance construction technology used in infrastructure projects. TIDP, on the other hand, creates a broader mechanism for funding more programs alongside ADCMS and is applicable to a variety of tasks, including planning, financing operations and environmental reviews.
Lent added, “[The Federal Highway Administration] has a lot of discretion under the TIDP program on how it spends the funds”, and as funds go out to the states, and jobs are bid, it is up to contractors to find which ones may be best for them.
