Akin Gump partner Davina Garrod, along with European Commission (EC) DG Competition senior official Balazs Horvath, presented “EU Merger Control & Life After Brexit – the view from Brussels,” in a webinar hosted on July 14 by The Law Society.

Garrod, whose practice includes representation of multinational corporations and financial institutions in antitrust investigations, and Horvath covered recent developments and discussed how merger control in the EU might differ after Brexit.

Among the topics they covered were the General Court’s annulment of the EC’s decision in Three/O2, the EC’s evolving approach to digital platform mergers, and guidance for acquirers/sellers/merging parties on merger investigations during the rest of the transition period and from 2021 onwards.
