Douglas Rappaport Quoted in Dealreporter on ESG-Centered Shareholder Activism

Douglas Rappaport, a litigation partner at Akin Gump, has been quoted by Dealreporter in an article looking at the likelihood of success for sustainability-centered shareholder activism.
According to Rappaport, it may be difficult to measure the success of campaigns centered on environmental and social issues solely based off share appreciation. Alternatives such as carbon footprint reduction, he said, may be more relevant.
Rappaport added, though, that a strategy seen in one recent contest, in which social good was, in fact, connected with shareholder value, has the potential to proliferate across the corporate landscape.
