Akin international trade partner Stephen Kho speaks with Financial Times about how companies are preparing for tariffs, export controls and changes to trade policy under President-elect Donald Trump. The article, titled “US companies lawyer up in preparation for Donald Trump’s trade wars,” examines the significant uptick in companies that have sought legal guidance to navigate national security laws, tariff exemptions and product classifications.

Stephen tells Financial Times that teams at Akin are expanding beyond just the rule of law. “To service a client now you need not just lawyers, you need good political sense, politicians and former politicians and a flash of psychology,” he says. “I think it’s a much more complex practice and that means we need more people.”
