(Washington, D.C.) – Former U.S. Senator John E. Sununu (R-N.H.) has joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, D.C., as an adjunct senior policy advisor. Sen. Sununu will advise clients on a wide range of public policy, strategic and regulatory issues.
Smith W. Davis, co-leader of Akin Gump’s policy practice, said, “John’s wealth of insight into the legislative process – honed over the course of a decade in Congress – combined with his private-sector experience in the technology sector will serve our clients well. Given the many opportunities he had, we could not be more pleased that he has chosen to join Akin Gump.”
Sen. Sununu added, “Akin Gump’s bipartisan policy practice is not only one of the largest and most respected in Washington, but it is also situated in one of the premier law firms in the world. Today, it’s more important than ever for firms to understand the business and economic impact of changes in the regulatory environment. I look forward to working with Akin Gump’s bipartisan team to help clients assess those impacts and respond effectively.”
Elected as a Republican to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1996, John Sununu served for three terms. He is a member of the Mid-East Working Group at the U.S. Institute for Peace. He serves on the boards of Time Warner Cable, Boston Scientific and ConvergEx Group, LLC.
