Global Restructuring Review covers Ranesh Ramanathan’s move to Akin Gump to co-lead the special situations and private credit group in its New York office.
Ramanathan had deep experience advising on complex cross-border transactions across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia, as well as advising global asset managers and private equity firms in capital investments and special situations.
Ramanathan says that joining the firm “was a combination of being in the right place at the right time” and adds, “given the market instability, there is going to be a need for creative capital as companies try to finance their operations and refinance existing indebtedness which was often based on forward earnings predictions.”
Akin Gump financial restructuring partner Ira Dizengoff noted that Ramanathan’s arrival saying that his skillset is a “natural fit” for the firm’s restructuring practice.
Co-lead to the practice, Dan Fisher added, “Our clients will benefit tremendously from his knowledge and experience in the credit space as they look to deploy flexible capital in an uncertain economic environment.”
