As reported by Law360 in “400 Hospitals Ink Uncompensated Care Deal With Medicare,” more than 400 hospitals entered a confidential settlement of litigation going back to 2010 regarding disputed calculations of Medicare reimbursement for uncompensated care involving disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments.

The hospitals, represented by Akin Gump health care partners Christopher Keough and Stephanie Webster, settled several lawsuits that, Law360 reports, totaled tens of millions of dollars in disputed amounts for cost years that began prior to October 1, 2004.
