The Hedge Fund Journal has published the article “Capitalizing on Merger Arbitrage Investment Opportunities in Asia Pacific Markets,” written by Akin Gump partners Matthew Puhar and Daniel Cohen and counsel Steven Franklin.

The article, which originated as an Akin Gump client alert, highlights some of the key questions investors should consider when analyzing merger arbitrage investment opportunities in the key public M&A markets in the Asia Pacific region. According to the authors, those considerations include:

  • What are the primary methods of acquiring or consolidating control of a publicly listed company target?
  • Will an investment in a publicly listed target company be disclosed to the market?
  • Will any antitrust, foreign investment or other authorities object to or delay the deal?
  • How easy is it for minority investors to block a takeover or privatization offer?
