Ileana Ros-Lehtinen Discusses US-Cuban Relations, Immigration Reform on PBS’s Global Perspectives Program

Akin Gump senior advisor Ileana Ros-Lehtinen was interviewed on the PBS television program Global Perspectives.

Ros-Lehtinen, who served for nearly three decades in the U.S. House of Representatives, spoke of her time in Washington, during which she was the first Republican woman elected to the House from Florida. She also noted that, for a long time, she was the only female member of the GOP on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Among the issues discussed during the interview were U.S.-Cuban relations as well as how the Biden-Harris administration can best engage with all of Latin America. Ros-Lehtinen also spoke about the likelihood of achieving significant immigration reform.
