Akin Gump real estate partner Marc Epstein was quoted by Law360 in the article “4 Things Lawyers Need To Know About Data Center Deals.” Epstein recently advised on just such a deal, involving 665,000 square feet in three states. (Click here to read more.)

Epstein said one of the key points to remember is that due diligence is critical before buying or developing any properties. “As a lawyer, you have to be cognizant of much more than just real estate issues. Much more than title and survey,” he said. “A data center is a really fancy warehouse in a way. However, it’s driven by technology.”

Equally important, Epstein pointed out, is an understanding of the key technologies. “What makes [the data center] truly unique,” he noted, “is it really marries real estate with technology.”
