Mac Fadlallah, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Dubai office, has been quoted in the Law.com story “The Year in Review: Middle East and Africa Lawyers Remained Staunchly Ambitious Despite Setbacks.” The article looks back at some of the issues affecting the practice of law this year, with the pandemic—and the fallout from it—taking center stage.
Speaking of the move to remote work sparked by the coronavirus pandemic, Fadlallah observed that it was challenging but successful.
“I am happy to say both our policies and systems were prepared to absorb this significant change to the way we operate,” he said. “I credit our firm leadership for having pre-existing policies that encouraged remote work, as well as our IT department for having a strong infrastructure to ensure that lawyers and other professionals are able to work from anywhere, all well before the pandemic.”
Fadlallah also described how 2020 reinforced “the true meaning of providing legal services that add value to our clients’ businesses and operations.”
“We saw our practices truly step up to stand side-by-side with our clients, understand their needs, and ensure the services we deliver help add value to the business operations they support,” he added.
