Akin Gump pro bono counsel Lauren Connell has been profiled by New York Law Journal as a 2021 Rising Star.

In the profile, the publication notes that Connell, who helps manage the firm’s pro bono practice, has been leading Akin Gump’s pro bono efforts with detained refugees seeking asylum, counseling hundreds of women and children and playing critical roles to secure life changing outcomes for the firm’s pro bono clients.

Connell’s work with the Brooklyn Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) is also spotlighted. Connell helped VLP launch its COVID Frontline Workers Initiative, which offers free preparation of life-planning documents to New York-based healthcare workers.

Earlier this year, the VLP honored Connell with the Pro Bono Leadership Award for her efforts to help launch the Frontline Workers Initiative. Learn more here.
